ABOUT RUDI ALEX SCAGLIA

A dear friend of mine for over a decade, Ive watched as his stunning Femme Fleurons project has worked up to the finished series it is today. An eye of a true creative coupled with an expertise and skillset with a camera, Rudis work is beyond anything I've seen, it stands in its own catgory. It is art, without question or doubt, this is no longer simply a photographic project, this has elevated to something else, something truly special.

As Rudi explains in his own words:

Nature has all the answers, when looking under the microscope at fossils, flowers, ice forms, snowflakes and other hidden matter, I discovered the naked molecule resonating within all I was observing. I had to recreate this beauty and share with the known world. These exotic Femme Fleurons are symbols of how we can fail to see the inner beauty of nature.

I wanted the aesthetic senses of the viewer to be transported away from the obvious and reflect on the the visual ambiguitites that surround us. These floral like amalgamated nude studies in essence replicate nature which envelopes us all. See what you will and keep being fascinated.

Bio: Photography gave me instant reward, the constriction of frame, processing of film and printing the random elements that had to be mastered to attain the gratification of the final magical images. What a romantic experience I initially had when picking up my first proper camera back in the early eighties.

Primarily I was set to be either a painter, print maker or sculptor when being accepted at Falmouth School of Art. But on documenting my own art work with a medium format camera I was immediately transfixed, pulled into a world where magic, the decisive moment, where everything existed in one pure image. I was hooked.

The stepping stone of this medium lead me to study at Plymouth College of Art where I tasted moving images and the whole production side of celluloid. Brilliant.

I spent twenty years working commercially as a public relations / press photographer and cameraman for film and TV. My personal work was always documenting events, especially live music, which drew me back to my love of black and white imagery, my passion. I've had my work used on album artwork from The Prodigy, The Catchers, Divine Comedy and lots of bands that didn't make it, Ive had images shown at thr South Bank Centre, organised group exchibitions at the White Space Embankment.

For the last ten years, after moving back to my home land of Cornwall, my photography has become more relaxed, deeper and personal in a sleepy backwater environment.
